About the Center for Financial Certification

The Center for Financial Certification was founded in 1998 by Bruce Moran, an ex-NASA information technology professional and vocational school instructor. In the early 1990's, Bruce was the proverbial entrepreneur-in-a garage, launching his own successful practice exam software (BeachFront Quizzer) and book company (TotalRecall Publications) to help candidates study for a variety of IT computer certifications. He then invited several outstanding investment professionals in the US and UK to join him in extending his unique test engine and self-study guides to the financial arena. Over the last few years, the Center's books and programs have helped more than 15,000 candidates achieve CFA certification.

The Center's global team of CFA professionals is headed by:
Jane Vessey, an Oxford University graduate in mathematics and CFA charter holder with over 18 years of experience in the investment industry in the UK, Japan, and Indonesia. Jane manages a London training company specializing in financial analysis and investment; is a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School in asset management and valuation; teaches a CFA® revision course at ISMA (the business School at Reading University, England); has developed online training courses for students taking the CFA examinations; and teaches CFA courses for the UK Society of Investment Professionals.

M. Afdal Pamilih is another 18-year veteran in the finance field, having worked in investment services in the US, the UK, and Indonesia. Afdal has developed web-based training programs for the CFA examinations and has extensive teaching experience, including at the School of Management, University of Surrey, United Kingdom. He obtained a Masters degree in mathematics from the University of Texas, Arlington, and has achieved the CFA certification.

David Stewart has extensive practical experience in the US in venture capital and business structural reorganizations. As president of a private client broker dealer firm, he has business and project valuation experience on the venture capital side, and portfolio management on the asset management side of the financial arena. His analysis, commentary, books, and study guides have appeared in the financial management, securities, and exam prep industries.

The Center for Financial Certification has developed a web site www.FinancialExams.com for access to a variety of reasonably priced, high quality CFA study aids that complement the offerings from the large CFA seminar companies.
