Rangers in 7 - Cliff Lee is a cold-blooded assassin. He will win two games, Wilson will win at least another and thisteam will find a way to get the other win they need.

Phillies in 5 - Clearly the best team in baseball.

halladay-lincecum should be tight, but the phil will feast on the rest of the pen

yanks in 6
lee isn’t starting the series and the yanks won’t make the same simple mistakes the rays did

Phillies in 6 - their offense wasn’t clicking on all cylinders against the Reds and could possible drop a close, low scoring game or two if they don’t regain form (esp against SF’s own 3-headed monster)

Yanks in 5 - unfortunately Cliff Lee can’t pitch everyday, and the Yanks have the best lineup top to down in all MLB

Rangers in 7 (not likely but I still hate the Yanks)

If anyone but the Yankees win and I will be happy. Hoping for Texas to win it all.

Phils - Yanks rematch is in the works.

The Yanks did get swept in Texas in August. The Rangers didn’t have much to play for at that point and the Yanks were in a tight race for the division.

Josh Hamilton is a beast and yanks are D bags.

Haha you’re picking the rangers in 7 because Josh Hamilton is a beast? Have you seen the Yankees lineup recently?

Are the Rangers really waiting for game 3 to start Lee?

It looks like it. The Rangers will win one of the first two at home and Lee will take game three in NY.

Right so far, and I’ll take the other side: Lee does not get the win tonight.

same here -> “Lee does not get the win tonight.”

murders&executions's picture

I saw that the Yanks are underdogs tonight. That will get them pretty fired up.

murders&executions's picture

The last 19 times a league championship series has been tied at 1-1, the winner of game 3 has went on to win the series. Once Lee do what he do tonight, it will be Rangers in 7.

I predicted CC would win his two starts (although game 1 didn’t quite play out like I thoguht) and Lee would win his two starts (gamed 3 and 7 of course).

Even though Lee has been a robot in the postseason, he’s absolutely has to lose eventually. We will see if the pressure gets to him tonight.

BValGuy's picture

^Didn’t look like the pressure got to him much. He put on a clinic last night, arguable an historical effort.

murders&executions's picture

His ability to constantly hit the corners and edges of the strike zone is ungodly. He’s clearly made a pact with the devil.

Anyone who said Yanks in 4 did not watch a single baseball game this year (or the postseason last year). I could understand saying Yanks in 6 or even 5 but 4 is just stupid. Banking on a Lee loss is like banking on winning the lottery. It’s like something my wife would say. She would say the Yanks would sweep the Rangers because she never watchs sports.

i knew lee was going to come out strong, but its still boggling that jeter didn’t bunt gardern over to third when there were no outs. swisher had success against lee so i still don’t get that.

king_kong's picture

There were two strikes on Jeter by the time Gardner got to 2nd. I might have still bunted Jeter there but not a horrible call not to.

higgmond's picture

I’m not complaining about Oswalt’s performance since coming over from Houston, but I still can’t stop thinking about a rotation of Halladay, Lee & Hamels.

Not gunna happen.

murders&executions's picture

What in the world is this guy going to have to do to get respect? Are you guys simply taking the contrarian stance in hopes of being the next Whitney or did you truly believe Lee would lose?

It existed for a day, or at least a few hours. Although viewed as one big deal, the Lee and Halladay trades were completely separate deals. I realize the Phils got some prospects for Lee, but prospects in baseball are such a crapshoot. He’ll be a Yankee next year now at $20+MM per year.

You can fondle the cube, but it will not respond.

murders&executions's picture

There is no doubt he will be a Yankee but I bet it takes 25+ million.

Here is his postseason line.

3-0 with a 0.75 ERA, 34 strikeouts and 1 walk in 24 innings. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 14 innings.

I’d say a strikeout to walk ratio of 34 to 1 is pretty good.
