I had an interview for the deutsche bank analyst training program about ten days ago. So far I heard nothing from them.
I am thinking this is a positive thing, I had the same type of interview with Standard Chartered and they called me the next day to say you’r out….
What do you guys thing? Does this mean I am still in the game, or they just don’t feel like picking up the phone?
Sorry to say thsi, but it sounds like you maybe are out of the running? Each day that passes decreases the likelihood of you getting an offer.
Although I sincerely hope they are just lazy and will eventually get back to you.
Best of luck either way!
Time between contact can mean anything. It might mean they are still interviewing others or more likely, it means you’re out. It’s tough to get that kind of position but good luck.
id say chances are youre out buddy. keep up the hunt. IBs get back to you quickly if you are desirable.
who knows. welcome to HRs world.
Any idea how many other candidates they were interviewing?
HR is good for nothing, for all we know you could be hired already.

thanks guys, your probably right i am out
i just wish they would contact me and tell me
a lot of firms don’t give a damn about responding to people they aren’t interested in.

HR is busy, the line manager is busy. Something else will have come up that pushes you further down the priority queue. If you are lucky, you will be on the ‘to do’ list for today. Not only are they interviewing other people for your job, they are interviewing other people for other jobs. Possibly far more senior candidates and possibly for a position that needed filling yesterday. They no doubt have to schedule a meeting with all the participants from your interviews to get their feedback on all the candidates. Meanwhile their bosses have given them something mega urgent with a deadline today or someone is off sick or a key person is travelling or the markets went haywire or someone is off training or on vacation. Everyone is overworked and under resourced. This is how life is.
The problem is you’re focusing on the things in life that don’t really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself “Am I on the right track here?”. I don’t mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

This is so profound I want to cry. Where do I send a check to support your mission?
Someone read Eat, Pray Love a few too many times. Would you like to hold hands and sing Kumbya, maybe talk about our feelings?

depending on your point of view, getting a job could matter.

I got a call today, they want me for a second round of interviews..
Do you guys think second round would be all there is to it, or there is going to be a third round? I did not want to ask them that question because it might make it seem like I am scared…
First interview they asked a lot about “ME” and a little bit about the position. Should I be prepared for tons of questions about the position in the next interview? Its an analyst training program, you would think they just want quality candidates and they would teach them, so knowledge does not rank high?
Hi dude. Congratulations on your second round invitation. I was actually pretty sure that you would not get called back, so it’s good to be wrong this time.
Anyway, what sort of “analyst” training program is this? DB is a pretty big bank with many divisions. You will probably get some technical questions. For analyst classes, I believe 2 rounds of interviews is standard, though this might still vary by bank.
“I’m a CPA! I got money b***h!”
its transaction banking
and i realy do not know much about it, and it seems like it is not easy to learn it from books like your learn about equity or derivatives….
Seems like you realy have got to work with it to learn it…
They also want to do the interview via conference, now by that I think “Skype”. But they are hinting at some conference system my school is supposed to have? WTF
Don’t be afraid to ask questions about the next round of interviews or to press for more details about the program.
Waiting by the phone for weeks on end to start a program you don’t know anything about makes you seem desperate. Just be honest and tell them that you need a timeline on the hiring decision in order to plan your personal life. As for details about the program, I think it’s pretty reasonable to ask about what job you’ll be doing.
If they’re interviewing you over some conference system, I would expect another round of interviews in person before a hiring decision is made.

Well I reside in a different country than the country of the open position, so I got my hopes up that they simply do not want to fly me in and that this will be it….
Anyway I am honored to make it to second interview with DB, while I think I deserve the job, these are some tough times in the global economy and some people who have better credentials and experience than I do are unemployed…

hate to dash your hopes, but there is almost no probability that they or anyone else will hire without a face to face interview. Good luck though.
If they ask you a question you don’t know just say that you don’t know it (unless you think you can successfully BS it) but that’s why you want the job because you are interested in learning this type of material and you’re a fast learner.
Like you said, it’s an entry level type job so they aren’t expecting you to know too much they just want to make sure that you’re capable of learning.
thanks for all who advised…
i figured i update you for the sake of it…
been a while since I was told I made it to second round interviews. They told me who will be doing the interviews and that the time will be decided soon…
then they vanished, and wont respond to my emails hahahah

Call them, and keep calling them until they slap you with a restraining order.

could have nothing at all to do with you, but maybe the business decided to change priorities or freeze hiring for now.
