so i took a new job at the firm and now we’re looking to hire someone to fill my old spot. the process has been bewildering to say the least, mainly because of how badly some people have interviewed despite how great they look on paper. one guy is diabetic and started losing it because his blood-sugar was low, another had no idea what the products were or how to calculate accrued interest (despite working in loans for 3 years), and another person had almost no relevant experience, but got the interview because they’re dating a friend of a friend of the manager. wtf? glad i’m moving on…

Won’t disagree that you can see a lot of WTF candidates when interviewing, but at least give the diabetic another shot and offer him some juice at the start of the interview.

You can fondle the cube, but it will not respond.

What do you mean by “losing it”? Did he start to hallucinate? Or maybe collapsed on the desk?

we think it had something to do with his stress level or blood pressure. he started talking nonsense and seemed as if he was going to faint - that’s what i heard, i wasn’t in the room. i don’t want to hold it against him, but sometimes the role can be stressful and may cause his blood pressure to rise, i know its happened to me.

the kicker is one of them is a “CFA Level 1 Candidate” and another lists “CFA Program Study” under his skills.

u should ask how long have u been cfa-ing

Hope this helps

honestly, if one of them just smiled and i saw they had grillz with CFA4LIFE spelled out in rocks this would be so much easier.

I’ve interviewed my share of chokers too. Never knew how they made it that far.

At least u weren’t there to ask him to prove his grades, or if he ever attended college.

Ah feel bad for the diabetic, I mean its not exactly his fault

Agree, give the diabetic another chance though you should ask him how frequent he has his lows. Could happen only infrequently. It might have been the variability in his schedule that completely threw him (different transport route, the night before nerves and poor sleep, your interview schedules running out of sync with when he should have eaten). He could be a perfectly good candidate and he normally manages absolutely fine. Trust me I know about these things….

Ps blood pressure and stress rising makes your sugar levels go high, not low. He would have had to have injected too much insulin or not eaten enough carbs/sugars to go low.

i’d like to give him another shot, but we’re going with someone else. we brought in six people and the diabetic’s skillset is only a 50/50 match compared to the other person’s.

we even added one late person yesterday and they gave themselves the ‘cold-fish handshake of death.’ so sad.

The limp wrist? Ugh. Why do people still do that - don’t they read? Not sure what is worse - that or the bone crusher. Yeah thanks for breaking my hand.

bone crusher pwns the limp fish. the only thing worse than a limp fish is a warm toilet seat.

Yeah bone crusher is better than limp fish, but they still irritate me.

You want a quote?  Haven’t I written enough already???

Maybe he has a debilitating wrist injury from his childhood.
