Being a PM in your late twenties generally means that you impressed the heck out of people and led them to trust your judgement. If that person is your dad, it’s generally not nearly as impressive as having to impress others.
That doesn’t mean she can’t go on and do well… it just means that you have to measure peoples accomplishments against what they’ve had to struggle against in order to achieve them. In much the same way that you can’t base a company’s value solely on what their revenue is.

I am die hard value investor but depending on cap size and circumstances, I won’t buy / sell strictly on valuation either. Particularly for small caps, stocks can stay cheap for a long time. As much as people like to talk about buying businesses and not just trading pieces of paper, at the end of the day, the only way to make money is when someone is willing to pay more for it than you did some time back. Valuation and business analysis are key to developing margin of safety, but it’s possible to have a brilliant analysis and still not make any money. You make money when other people want to own the shares and bid them up – that’s it. Havnig a catalyst or source of momentum is key.
