Also, this study is based in the UK. In the US, it’s probably more popular to just take out student loans - further proof that borrowing money can solve all problems.

Actually, I know a number of cute medical students. They are not “hot” like Cindy Crawford, but definitely could be called “cute”. Strangely, most are Asian, as ChickenTikka says. Clearly, he has spent some time thinking about this.

Yeah, so this thing happens on the internet where people like to argue against common sense. Let me break it down for you:
Getting into a decent college and doing well, while not a hurculean endeavor, is challenging for many people. Getting into and finishing medical school is harder still. If you have distractions in life, those activities are harder still.
Most attractive women don’t need to do that, because they are attractive, and therefore have many options (“distractions”) in life.
Most people take the path of least resistance in life.
You do the math.
In the history of the world have there been hot classy female doctors? Sure. Is it the norm? Not at all. I’ve literally never seen one except on Scrubs and ER. Hot classy babes can either just marry rich or go into something lame where they coast on their looks (broadcast journalism comes to mind).
For whatever reason, pharmacy school seems to break the mould (I guess because they weren’t quite good enough to be doctors).

You could still argue that the distribution of hot females is skewed away from the medical profession. Clearly, some jobs have a higher average hotness than others.

I disagree with most of the above, some points:
- Successful people tend to take better care of themselves. Is the average doctor more attractive than the average institutional sales rep of the same age? No. Is the average doctor more attractive than the average McDonalds worker of the same age? Yes.
- People who go to med school typically pay attention to their health and work out. Denny’s waitresses do not typically do so.
- Dermatologists are generally hot. Hematology researchers are not. So, there are definitely some specializations that tend to bring hotter people.

I would also point out that doctors != medical students. On average, doctors are probably more attractive because: 1) They face “customers” (patients) and must therefore be well groomed, and 2) Doctors have more control over their lifestyle, so they can go to the gym, eat healthy food, etc.
Medical students have no reason to groom themselves, since all that matters is their grades. Furthermore, due to lack of money and time, they have no control over their lifestyle. Having no money means they must eat instant noodles instead of nutritious food. They also cannot buy stylish clothing or spend money on nice haircuts, manicures, facials, or other beauty treatment. Having no free time means they cannot exercise or play outside. Thus, they slowly become pale and unhealthy.
So, in conclusion, the attractiveness of doctors is irrelevant to the attractiveness of doctors. “brain_wash_your_face” is out of touch with the realities of people in scientific fields.
