HK3, I was originally come from HK but have moved to the states for a very long time. I would like to move back to HK/Asia - not just because of the current financial crisis. But unfortunately the fixed-income or SF/Securitization field is never as developed as it is in the states or EU, so there are only very limited opportunities for me. And I agree that the CAIA designation probably won’t help me much in that regard either.
Btw, do you speak fluent Manadain as well? I think the capital market in China/Shanghai presents good opportunities going forward, but you better be local chinese or have unique skills that they require.
I have 2009 Schweser CAIA L2 material (Study notes & Exams) and would like to exchange it for 2009 CAIA L1 material (Schweser or Uppermarks). I live in London so please respond only if you can meet in person or happy to exchange thru Royal mail.
Mods - I hope that I’m not violating any forums rules as these are Original Schweser study guides.
patisse,
you are in the wrong forum (Level 2 instead of Level 1) and replying to a 2 year old post. try looking in Level 2 section for your answer or creating a new post there.
hope that helps…
cheers,
Schweser is much better than Uppermark. This is due to better resources they devote to education (i.e. Kaplan). Their materials are almost error-free, whereas Uppermark materials have tons of incorrect sentences and ambiguous remarks. The software is more intuitive for Schweser. Flashcards are higher quality. Quality of instructors measured by both knowledge and delivery is also far superior for Kaplan Schweser. They get back to you right away, but UM takes weeks and sometimes don’t even get back to you. I have taken both courses in the past studying for levels 1 and 2, and I’d heavily recommend Schweser over Uppermark.
peteus, I fully agree with cfacowtown. One’s exposure, skill-set and personality distinguishes him / her for success far more than designations.
And in fact - I am a Honkie and speak perfect Chinese (good English as well). So are you from the US?

HK3, btw mind I ask what field are you working in now in HK?
peteus, I speak a bit of mandarin, and I agree that it is one of the essential req for entering into PRC market.
I am in indirect real estate.
Sorry for being ignorant, but what exactly is indirect RE? Do you mean REIT?
peteus, mind to pass me your email for further chat?
Sure HK3. My email address is petenaff @ yahoo.com. You’ll find me on the YM sometime as well.
HK3, would you like to give me your email address too?
peteus, thanks and have just sent you an email. let’s chat there.
HK3, somehow I keep getting error messages when I try to email to you - “permanent fatal errors at the address”

Hi to all,
for March 2012 Caia Level 1 which one do you suggest? Schweser or Uppermarks?
The study material is the same of 2011?
Thanks,
