Equity Research salary scale

Was wondering what the salary scale is for anyone working in equity research. This would be for a person at a bulge bracket bank (GS, JPM, MS, etc.) working in NYC. If someone would be able to break down the salary ranges (by base salary and bonus) by years of experience up until a VP level, it would be helpful.

Year 1 (Junior Associate): For example in 2013, first year out of college base salary was $70K + $30K bonus, for a total of $100K

Year 2 (Junior Associate)

Year 3 (Associate)

Year 4 (Associate)

Year 5 (Associate)

Year 6? (VP)

“Bulge bracket bank”? Havent heard anyone use that term since 2007.

associate base around $115-120k

Any idea what the bonus is like for an associate?

that depends. some companies are notorious for screwing people over like CS, UBS, many European names come to mind. A lot of 0’s or $10k in the last few years

whats the drop off for non bulg-bracket? is it really significant?

yes, the drop off can be pretty substantial. smaller shops frequently don’t have two levels of associates either. They both cap base pretty earlier and bonuses also much smaller.
