How do you know where your weak areas are?

Hi,

So I’ve done my first mock and have completed 700q on Qbank. I really want to be able to knuckle down to the specifics parts where I lack knowledge. WHen marking my mock, I realised i didn’t know how to my breakpoint in Corporate Finace, Calculating Cashflow and FCFF, and diluted EPS. Therefore this week I am going to study those on Qbank and in from my Schweser material.

How do you find you weak areas?

When do you revise those weak areas?

Question Bank doesn’t break down your score by section?

I think you’re going about it the right way. I would suggest when doing a mock to take all the answers you got wrong and do a little tally (i.e. 10 FRA questions wrong etc….). That way you can easily identify where you went wrong

The mocks are like the real exam are super clear on what questions cover what sections (i.e. first 18 questions is ethics, 19-34 is Quant, etc).

Grade it and tally your scores by sections (i.e. 65% in Ethics, 73% in Quant, etc).  What I also did was do an additional breakdown by percent I lost on each section (i.e. FRA cost me 6%, PM cost me 3%, etc).  Allows you to look at your scores from different perspectives.

CFAI has a PDF on their website which lists all of the LOS. If you really want to be thorough I’d go through that and if there are any LOS that you can’t briefly summarize in your head, mark them as spots to study. Going through the mocks and tallying your results by topic is good too, but there could be a lot of specifics that show up on the exam that don’t show up on any of the mocks just due to the breadth of the curriculum.
