Advice for Procrastinators (Type 2 Candidates)

If you have been delaying your exam prep (Type 2 Candidate), I’d say you’ve reached the ‘as-late-as-possible’ point. Unless you start slogging now, your probability of passing is very low.

Advice for Type 2 Candidates:

Type 2 candidates are procrastinators. By this point, they are worried about completing their revision in the limited time remaining.

If you are a Type 2 Candidate, here is my advice:

  1. Take a few minutes to evaluate where you are and define a schedule. Your schedule should involve:

a. Finishing at least one review of the entire course by mid-November (the earlier the better)

b. 3 weeks for revision and practice at the end

  1. Listen to videos and/or read the notes depending on what works better for you. Focus on understanding the key concepts rather than allowing yourself to get caught up in the details.

  2. It is crucial that you attempt the MCQ-based examples and practice problems in the curriculum for each reading. Doing more than this might be psychologically and practically difficult if you are trying to complete the course by November.

  3. After you have gone over the course, make sure to

a. Revise quickly and efficiently by reviewing your notes and/or listening to summary videos

b. Go over the curriculum questions – especially the ones you got wrong

c. Do more practice questions if you have time

d. Do the topic-wise assessments available on the CFA Institute Website

e. Do at least three full length mock exams

Good luck with your revision and remember the key to success: Practice, Practice, Practice!
