Floors for floating rate securities

How are floors on floating rate securities considered embedded options on bonds? There is no option to make the bond have a floor (it is already a component of the bond itself, not an option granted to bondholders).

It’s considered an option because its payoff is uncertain and it has to be exercised. These days that exercise is automatic, but it’s still considered an option.

At this stage you probably shouldn’t be concerned about the reason that it’s considered an option; knowing that it is considered an option is what’s important.
