My study guide was the LOS from the CFAI Textbooks. I made sure I knew how to answer all of them.

Also look at the topic weights on the exam (from the CFAI website) when you are pushed for time. Don’t spend all your time on Economics if Accounting and Equity is weak.

I used finquiz notes, finquiz qbank, schweser mocks, CFAI mocks and CFAI Blue box questions!

I found them good and cost effective and following the same for L3 as well, but more preference to CFAI books :)

Sooraj.

I used the Schweser study guides only for levels I and II and passed first try on both… never opened a CFAI book or bothered to look at the end of chapter questions.  I honestly doubt i am an above average candidate either.  People on this forum who rave about the need to do end of chapter questions and study the institute provided curriculum make me laugh.  Use Schweser only and you can pass.  The CFAI books are just too lengthy and time consuming to be able to get any value out of using them in my opinion.  Set aside about 5-6 months for level II and go home and study for 2 hours every night after work and maybe a few hours on Sunday and you should be fine.

I am very happy it worked for you :)

But people “rave” about the need to do EOC and Blue box because most of us felt the need for it - just like you felt its required to do ONLY schweser. So I dont really understand whats there to laugh :)

None of us here say anything against Schweser, but I still believe people are taking a risk if they study with Schweser alone. Just my opinion again :)

Best regards,

Sooraj.

I read you posting somewhere else that you got the FinQuiz stuff for $160 during pre-order. The closest I see on the website is $200 but that does not include the notes and summaries. Recommended or not?

You should send an email to their contact person asking for the coupon to be used for 60% off. They generally reply fast.

I just checked again after you said, Yes Ive ordered complete package for 160$ (for L3).

Best regards,

Sooraj.

I really liked the Elan 11th hour guide. It really helped bring everything that I read in CFAI months ago back to the forefront of my memory. If I had to do level II again (and I don`t suckas) I would read CFAI doing all of the blue boxes and EOC`s then in the last month switch off between Mocks and the 11th hour guides.

Definitely pass on any info if you do hear back and the contact you emailed. I would love to get the same deal if possible.

What things does the $160 package include? Do they provide printed copies as well or just the PDFs?

I did start with CFAI material but got so bored reading them for 5 days. I never touched them again. I read only Schweser notes and did EOC questions of CFAI material. That was good enought for me. It saves time and keeps you motivated.

I scored greater than 70% in all the sections. Instead of investing time reading the CFAI material multiple time, I suggest taking mock exams. That would be a better preparation for exam.

finquiz notes, mocks, CFAI mock, CFAI EOC, Examples & Schweser Videos for FRA.. They worked for me perfectly.

This is a game that rewards patience and balance. Think like a man of action and act like a man of thought.

Thank you all for the info

Passed level II.  I primarily used Schweser notes and EOC.  For $350, Shweser offers the notes and three practice tests.  A pretty good deal and really all you need (although I don’t know if the videos are helpful or not).  I went back and forth between Schweser and CFAI and ultimately like Schweser better as the CFAI was too verbose.

I did send them an email but they haven’t replied yet. But what I see from other posts, they are not offering the discount any longer.

I’m thinking of just getting the questions and mock package now. Would it be possible for you to pass on the notes and summaries for L2? I’m in India these days so getting it won’t be a problem.

Already booked by another AF-er.

Sooraj.

took one look at the level ii curriculum and realized I forgot accoutning from grad school days.  took advanced accounting courese at the Anderson school in the fall.  Then, started in Feb 1 to master Schweser Notes, some of the text where I didn’t understand, and lots and lots of flash cards.  I also did about 3 full mock exams.  Took a whole week off from work before the exam.
