2014 MPS?

Just curious if anybody has tried to estimate an MPS for 2014 yet. My Band 9 fail had a 40/60/80 score of 65%, so I’m just kind of curious.

I am thinking it’s 80 correct answers at around 67%. The 40/60/80 is too wide and it’s better to use 50%, 51-70 and 70% to get number of correct answers and sum that up to be divided by 120. msc2488 has excelklent matrix but is band 10. I guess he has at least 75 correct answers.

If you take all of the Band 9 and Band 10 estimated 40/60/80 scores posted on this site in the last day, the average is approximately 65% (min of 63 and max of 67). That’s compared to 64.7% last year. Based on that (albeit very small sample size), I think the MPS is ~66%, or 79/120 correct…perhaps 80/120 if you screwed up Ethics.

Based on the matrices I saw from the results thread, I’m going to estimate between 78-80 / 120 depending on ethics adjustment, if applied. 65-66.67%

Sounds pretty arbitrary to me.

MPS was sufficient to make 54% people fail.I think 68%.

What do you think the difference is between bands? 2%? More?

My guess is about 2%. I did a linear regression on the 40/60/80 scores posted last year and the slope between bands was just under 2% (about two questions per band).

your calculation is insufficient to make 54% failure equate to 68% MPS

I did a very strong analysis of my results and I believe MPS cutoff is 80/120 correct questions so 66.6%

Here are my results (PASS)

I registered in October, started in March. Solved almost no questions, not end of the reading questions for Schweser or CFAI, neither did I do a single mock. I faced the heat during the exam and had to solve a lot of questions using fundamental concepts and ab-initio derivations which could have easily been done using a formula had i spent time memorizing them or practicing questions. I am lucky to have passed.

Also, I aced ethics and had 3 or more topic areas in each of the three scoring bands.

I am truely amazed by your pass, even more so given how you prepared that. You have 126 points falling in each of the <=50% and 50-70% region and only 108 points in the >70%. it does not matter for a pass. Congratulations.

Wow. I remember seeing your matrix in the results thread and thought it copied incorrectly and I threw it out. A 58% 40/60/80 score as a pass…that is crazy. Your results are the perfect example of a limitation of the 40/60/80 estimation method! Some were 67%'s and were Band 10’s.

This sounds about right to me.

LoL

Got 10 bands in first attempt . Dam frustrated with this 10.
