Arif vs Kaplan

Hi all,

For those who took L3 in 2014 - please let me know if you have a view on the difference between Arif’s videos and Kaplan?

Thanks

I took both and found Kaplan leaps and bounds better. Also the discussion fourm that Arif had for level 3 was weak at best and I found the most amount of value in that from level 2. Kindof the only reason I signed up for 3 with him. Stick with the CFAI books and schweser and you will be good.

I always found Arifs videos for Fixed Income good and Schwesers pretty weak. Thats what I did for L2/L3. You can see sample videos in Arifs page if you request access from Admin - so see for yourself and then make a decision mate.

I would recommend Arif for someone who is interested in covering the CFA curriculum, as opposed to Kaplan for someone who is short on time and wants to breeze through the material.

IMHO I think Arif kind of dives in to little little areas in the curriculum while Kaplan might not cover, so I think Arif is better.

My first attempt I did with Kaplan and I felt that it was not covering the curriculum in full - though the delivery of the material is better than Arif. Arif is a slow grind cos he keeps going on and on, but I think he helps put the whole syllabus in perspective

I felt material in derivatives in Arif’s is not that strong - may not be sufficient for someone who s a bit lost (as me)

Thanks Guys - this is really helpful albeit mixed views.

It seems you all used Arif and Kaplan together - could you give me some more detail on how you blended the two sets of videos?

Thanks

Use Kaplan. It covers just about everything very well.
