Telling it like it is on AF since 2007.

yep.

I know this is controversial, but I was a little proud of him after I read that.

Proud in what way?

He doesn’t live in the US anymore. The US expat tax laws are kind of absurd IMO, so I think he is doing the right thing by renouncing citizenship to avoid a huge tax liability. If he lives in Singapore and derives no or substantially no benefits from the US, why should be pay US taxes? That makes no sense.

sounds idiotic that we are giving importance to such rotten piece of news….. Shit

Yep, I agree with him.

No Homo

Isn’t he originally from Brazil anyway?

My job is to reconcile cognitive dissonance.

Me too.  And Singapore seems like a great choice, a bit expensive but that isn’t a problem for him obviously.

Not sure if I’ll give up citizenship or not, it really comes down to taxes and ease of travel I guess.  But I certainly don’t want to be encumbered by the USA’s problems any longer since I’m not a member of that society in any real way.

Good for him.  More people that leave the sooner the message will be received.

Imagine the flood of rich French people we’re going to see…

I’m Rick James, b**ch! CHARLIE MURPHY!

Still think that is one of the greatest skits of all time. I’m sure I have watched that 12x yet I still laugh every time I think about it.

Hey Vikas, try to clean the dialogue up a notch.

Hmmm can’t imagine why he would want to leave the lovely United States.

The bitter government strikes back…

More details from this wonderful group of guys on their brilliant “expatriate act” or whatever they are calling this nonsense.  It’s just more of the same fear-based tactics that are always employed; someone got out, step up the fear tactics so that nobody else gets away.

“If Mr. Saverin finds himself desperate to come back to the United States one day…”  uhh yeah I’m sure that will happen.

Seriously who cares? This nobody was in the right place at the right time and became a billionaire thanks to the work of far more gifted people and now lives in singapore boozing and boning various attractive women and we are supposed to care? (not that I have a problem with that)

Not all men were meant to dance with dragons.

purealpha's picture

Palantir, I get your point. But I would suggest it is merely one of the many infringements on your rights that are coming your way as a citizen of that place, hence why you should care. The govies don’t have any money left, what comes next 1) keeping tax payers from leaving, and 2) criminalizing people that don’t pay their debts, and 3) lots more stuff I can’t even think up but they will…

Good times!

I wonder if they cleared this with George Soros first?
