Being that it is TX I doubt anything is going to happen. Some guy shot a guy breaking into his neighbor’s house years ago, they had the 911 call on tape where the cops told him not to do anything, and they didn’t bring any charges.
BUT ethically/morally I don’t have a problem with what he did. A 4 year old cannot defend herself.
I want proof of some sort that the guy was actually messing with the rancher’s 4 year old and that it wasn’t just a story made up after the fact. Assuming that proof can be presented, I want that rancher given a medal.
There are no real facts here. It’s possible the rancher simply hated to guy and beat him too hard, and after realizing ‘oh sh*t’ he’s dead, made up the story his daughter was being molested
Hope. It is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and greatest weakness.
She is four years old and not ready for that type of activity. There will be injuries down there and a DNA sample would also be taken and compared against the alleged rapist…
It’s not alleged if you see it go down. Like I said, assuming there’s proof as Blake said, he gets my vote for Prez. I don’t want to live in a country that says if you catch a dude molesting your 4 year old daughter you can’t just put him down like the rest of the animals.
Well apprently that’s how it works in some places (I’m looking at you Texas). And frankly, that’s how it should work in most places. Explain to me frankly why killing a guy molesting a toddler isn’t justified and is detrimental to society without resorting to weak hypotheticals like the slippery slope. My argument: child molesters are detrimental to society, and prisons full of child molesters are also detrimental in that they are a misallocation of public assets. Therefore, his actions are not only justifiable, but exemplary.
Also, per my calculations he just saved the taxpayers a good amount of $$ and kept this weirdo from being re-released onto the streets in 10 years.
You’re basically saying that individual judgment should be used to 1) determine if someone else is guilty of a crime, and 2) determine the punishment for that person. This is basically the opposite of the US judicial system. Based on your argument, we should abolish judicial procedure and give everyone a license to punish crimes based on whatever their own judgment is. I can’t even begin to describe how this would cause the fabric of society to disintegrate.
If the child molestor had been brought to court, it is likely that he would be sentenced to jail, assuming there was enough evidence to get a conviction. But the point is that such an outcome should be determined in court, and not be based on the sole discretion of some random guy.
No, I’m saying when you walk into a man’s home / property and forcibly assault or abuse his family / children, you get whatever is coming to you. End of story. You’re not some random guy, you are the father of that household, and the assaultant consciously made that stupid decision. And no, this is not contrary to how this nation was founded. Personal and vigilante justice were grassroots in the colonies and the west long before the judicial system determined it was acceptable to suit a corporation for forgetting to tell you your coffee’s hot. You’re right, politicians should have the power to draft young men to kill other young men on foreign soil, but a man shouldn’t have the responsibility or authority to defend his own household from the worst agressors, on his own property, particularly his young children, as he see’s fit. Like I said, give me one good actual reason why it is actually wrong or detrimental to society for this to have gone down the way it did, and not some empty “because that’s the way I think we should do it.” I gave my argument in this post and the last.
And yes, I specifically said, don’t use some hypothetical slippery slope argument and that’s exactly what you resorted to because that’s all you could muster. WEAK. WEAK, man. Here’s my hypothetical slippery slope: In the society you advocate, all we’re left with are spineless, half males without authority or responsibility, where common sense used to exist. It is possible for societies and organizations to become so blinded to the concept of personal responsibility and common sense that they rely on increasingly Kafkesque and enormous legal systems to tell them how to live.
Even if you see someone molest a kid, you shouldn’t kill them on the spot. That’s not how society works…
States rights. How a state like TX handles this will be completely different than a state like MA for example.
Intent is a major factor in a murder case. Could a DA prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this guy intended to kill the alleged rapist? Highly unlikely. If you get into a bar fight and you punch someone and they hit the ground headfirst, and die; you could get manslaughter. But did the puncher intend to kill the guy? 99.9% chance no.
If this guy walked into his house, saw his friend on top of his daughter and he punches him a few times to get him off of her and the guy dies somehow, there is no intent. He was protecting his daughter. Any reasonable jury especially in a state like TX is not going to convict a manslaughter charge. And the DA knows this and wouldn’t waste his resources or tie up the court system. And if they find his DNA inside of her, 100% chance he walks.
Up here, people watch the news and say, “How can a guy get away with killing a child molester assaulting his daughter? I wouldn’t want to live in that society.”
In Texas, my brother watches the news and thinks, “How can that Sandusky guy get away with assaulting over a dozen disadvantaged children while everyone turned a blind eye? I wouldn’t want to live in that society.”
Personally, my advice is that if you find this news unsettling, stay in the cities. I grew up in the country and it constantly irks me how urbanites grow up in bubble wrap and abhor the concept of exercising common sense and having responsibility. People want a one size fits all rule for every occasion and then can’t understand why the legal system fails. Reality doesn’t lend itself well to clear cut models and algorithems, turning away from these things in favor of common sense doesn’t lead to chaos, it prevents it. People in this industry of all places should know better, yet routinely do not.
i think child molesters should be permanently used as a punching bag for professional fighters…..no sympathy for the guy whatsoever….in the words of Ivan Drago “if he dies, he dies”…..i think child molestors are problably the worst kind of criminal offense….anything against children should be treated with the harshest penalties possible….
The father is hero in my eyes if what said is true. If I were him, I would have done the same thing.
As far as law is concerned, he killed him in self defence. In this case he was protecting his kid. Even if he get convicted, he’ll still be at peace and a hero for his kid.
Although no longer specifically said in court anymore, TX still supports the ” he needed killin’ ” defense. That’s how they want it and it’s within their rights to have it that way.
Meh sounds kinda sketchy. Seems like the girl is fine so what crime actually happened? Some guy says someone did something? And also would the guy be dead if he wasn’t a Mexican with no known family? Too messy to sort out, I think they should just kill the Texan and call it even.
the guy will probably get charged with manslaughter and his attorney will take the ‘heat of passion’ defense

You still shouldn’t go around killing alleged criminals. The father should at least be tried in court for manslaughter or whatnot.
