Cops are just bullies with guns. I’ve said this for years. Then you get racist ones that know at the worst they will be suspended with pay (which is just a vacation) and that gives them full reign to do what they want to minorities.

I’m amazed that anybody would choose to become a cop in america these days. Who would want to spend their days risking their lives, and end up villainized for trying to do their job.

I’m sure their six figure salaries, great pension and benefits more than makes up for the “risk” and “villianization” they endure. And by villianization do you mean beating a homeless man to death and getting away with it:

Let’s google that… http://www.lawenforcementedu.net/missouri/missouri-salary/ Ummm… you’re wrong.

I can use google too:

Toronto cops are pretty well paid… arguably even as well-compensated as Ontario teachers. Though I’m not sure how that’s relevant to a discussion of Missouri and Louisiana cops. Check a map; that’s not even the same Country.

My reference was in regards to all cops. Show me where I said cops in Louisiana or Missouri. The OP may have brought up articles about those two states but he never said the discussion was only about those two states. You yourself even said “being a cop in America…” which expanded the parameters of the discussion. I simply included Toronto because I live in the GTA and the sunshine list in Ontario is accurate data that cannot be disputed.

The thread is titled “Home of the Brave”, which is an unmistakable reference to the United States.

Yes, I get that. I also get that this is the first time in the history of AF where a topic is slightly changed/expanded. But if the topic is about the United States, then why are Missouri and Louisiana the only states allowed to be discussed? I also provided a link in reference to the LAPD…

I love how Canadians watch one episode of Jon Stewart and then declare themselves experts on the quality of U.S. law enforcement.

^ Much like how Americans declare themselves experts on all things and stir up trouble in the world

Isildurrr has elevated his otherwise clumsy rhetoric to a masterful level which bears a resemblance to a telemarketing channel at 3 am - discussion threads with flashy titles and content devoid of original thought. Very elegant debating style.

This.

Yes Yes Mobius, I am in the process of completing a degree in applied mathematics and I shall soon analyse the raw data and deliver a quality packed analysis that will blow your ass back to Rawalpindi. (Not literally of course, you’re enjoyable when not carrying out your duties as internet defender of the land of the free).

Till then please allow us to not exert our brains so much. Alas, we are not the intellectual superstars and original thinkers America told us we all were.

In my response, I am not defending the land of the free or any other viewpoint for that matter, but I am criticizing your lazy, shallow threads where you’ve used up all of your critical thinking capacity to construct a cookie-cutter punchline title and dropped a few links in the body. That’s an acceptable approach only if you’re sharing an amusing internet story or a joke, not when you’re attempting to discuss any real issues. Perhaps the subtle distinction between “criticizing isildurrr” and “defending the land of the free” escapes you since you haven’t yet completed that applied math degree you are working on.

May not be acceptable but in the land of the free it is my LIBERTY to post what I want, when I want…so there. (Ironic and tongue in cheek just in case you don’t follow)

Also, I am well aware of the subtle distinction of your post, I was making a reference your other post where you turned up like Keyser Soze and made some jibberish attempt at ponting out the sexist policies of Europe in an attempt to tell us how equal America is.

Nevertheless seeing as you have the time to conduct some lame ass internet flame war, perhaps you can spare us a minute and give us your quality insight and original thoughts on this sensitive issue keeping in mind that personal anecdotes may not be representative of the real picture out there.

In USA, you have to factor in “details” for compensation. I had a cop friend that had a free apartment on the condition he provided security when needed in the complex. He’d also get paid 4x his hourly rate to ensure the Hooters crowd didn’t go crazy. That cop in front of Walmart? He is making a killing per hour

Dude just needs to get laid. After that, I bet he won’t be nearly as uptight…

Their job of “protect and serve” or their job of tormenting and killing?

Obviously the police are out of control in that country, and have been for a long time…
