Don't mess with Comcast

I never knew what a valuable tool employers have to fire people - the ethics code! No wonder CFAI loves it. You can fire employees at will even if they have contracts and excellent performance - “he violated ethics” - then backfit some violation.

So the NFL/NBA won’t do it even when warranted; accounting firms will even when spurious. What a world.

Same thing with violating some random “policies and procedures” document. Lawyers can make violating stuff like that sound bad. I’m sure that if they looked carefully, they could find some random thing that has violated something an employee agreed not to do, for every single American.

This got a lot of press around Philly a few weeks back. Although he denies it, word on the street is that the dude got frustrated with Comcast’s normal channels and decided to try to to back-channel by calling the chief accounting officer’s office claiming he was calling about some work PWC was doing for Comcast.

companies love putting these types of why I can fire you clauses, it’s great as potential justification and legal protection
