Lots of things in the USA change in the 1970s, it’s when the seeds of disaster were planted!
The food supply shifts suddenly, leading people into the metabolic syndrome, obesity, depression, anxiety, mania, attention deficit thang. Feminism happens, a big wrong move for relations between the genders. Male incomes fall, both parents work, another bad move. And the beginning of income inequality which eventually crushes the middle class.
Profits up, externalities up, but let’s ignore the externalities and call it a win.
Why bother with the inferior gender? Just embrace the new generation and take for your suitor a man. No need dealing with those inferior women anymore!
