X-Files

Hope it works out and can live up to expectations. Always worried about reboots ruining the original work which in many cases should have just been left alone.

(CNN)Here’s one reboot that would be out of this world.

TV Wise is reporting that Fox is very close to pushing the button on a new season of “The X-Files,” which aired from 1993 to 2002. The original stars, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, are said to be on board for the revival of the hit show about a pair of FBI agents who investigate the paranormal.

If social media are any indication, fans really want to believe.

It appears that timing will play a crucial factor in whether the project gets off the ground, as both Anderson and Duchovny have other commitments. Anderson stars in the hugely popular BBC drama “The Fall,” while Duchovny’s NBC series “Aquarius” is set to debut in May.

Both actors are fully aware that fans really, really want to see them back as professional partners/lovers Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. In February, Duchovny said during an appearance on CBS’ “The Talk” that bringing the show back was a very real possibility.

“It looks good; that’s all I’ll say,” the actor said. “It looks very good.”

The only way this will be any good is if they go back to their roots and focus on weird investigations. The latter seasons of the original series focused too much on the relationship between the characters and not enough on interesting investigations.

^ +1… That’d be fantastic.

But now all I can think of when I see David Duchovny is “but why male models”?

I’m a hand model, mama…a finger jockey.

I never understood the appeal of Gillian Anderson.

^She was nerd-hot back in the day. Kind of like Olivia Munn before she went mainstream. Plus, she’s into other women which raises her score.

I think Scully’s appeal comes more from people associating with Mulder. He is a normal looking guy, is misunderstood, has no female friends, and has boxes full of porn. Then, he suddenly gets partnered with a good looking office woman who might or might not be into him. So, viewers root for Mulder to get with Scully, and they also subconciously fantasize about being Mulder and getting with Scully.

There is the disconnect for me. I see nothing attractive about her. Redheads aren’t really my thing, but I can at least see the appeal of other redheads who are considered attractive.

something about that red hair i dunno what

she had blonde hair last time I saw her on tv

I think it is important that Scully is not that hot, but still attractive. If she was working with you in the office, you would fantasize about her. But if she is too hot, like a supermodel, then the fantasy becomes unattainable.

Thanks to this thread I’ve not been able to get “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies out of my head.
