News Source Gathering

I typically use RSS feeds to direct news into outlook, which I find pretty efficient. However, I’ve noticed that fewer sites are supporting RSS now and seem to have moved over to Twitter, Google+. That’s fine I guess, but I find the feeds aren’t as good and filled with a lot noise/built more for entertainment purposes.

Any other suggestions?

I get all of my news from Analyst Forum Water Cooler.

Google Alerts with an outlook rule that funnels it all into a Google alert folder. This avoids me engaging in motivated reasoning (both through my own means and google recommending things it thinks I’d like). I’d rather get a true random sample of what is being discussed about various topics

I also use Flipboard and to a lesser extend, Feedly

Newsmap.jp is ok for a high level page.

the size is how many hits, the color is the category and the brightness is the recency

Cool site, I have never been on it before. Ill have to check it out more often.

As should everyone.

Yeah, you can filter by country and news category too which is nice. Because the articles go like 10 deep for each sector, you get more visibility into news flow versus using a major outlet where only the top five or so stories get covereage.
