Damn it. I really wanted to see Silva vs. Hall

UFC 198’s stacked main card has stayed intact for several weeks, much to the delight of expectant fans. That’s no longer the case as of today, as Dana White confirmed to Yahoo’s Kevin Iole that Anderson Silva is out of Saturday’s bout against Uriah Hall. It is the first time in Silva’s entire 20-fight UFC career that he has withdrawn from an officially announced matchup.

According to UFC medical consultant Jeff Davidson, Silva had “developed abdominal discomfort [Monday and] further evaluation today is consistent with acute cholecystitis. He will be seen by a surgeon today for possible surgery.”

Cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gall bladder, and it’s possible that Silva will need to have his gall bladder removed. The 41-year-old is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC London on February 27th, but he got a relatively quick turnaround so that he could compete in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil. Unfortunately, that will not be happening for the former middleweight champion.

UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for Hall, although if nothing comes through then he’ll presumably be removed from the card, which is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Fabricio Werdum."

Why would a professional fighter bum rush and lead with his head, in the heavyweight division no less? No respect for his opponent? He ended up taking a little nap. Hard lesson.
