Does anyone have a view on whether or not one should learn the effective capital gains tax rate and the future value formulas. The LOS says `explain`...im hoping someone will say no!

FVIFt=[(1+Rart)^N(1-Tecg)+Tecg-(1-B)Tcg
Tecg=Tcg[1-(Pi+Pd yadah yadah yadah...)

If possible study everything irrespective of command words. Last year CFA did ask questions requiring calculations (2 bond hedge & contigent immunization) but Los didn't include the commnad word "calculate"

Kinda makes you wonder why they bother with LOS then. I wonder if they would have counted that question towards the final result (I assume that almost nobody would have got it right?)

I am not sure if CFA excluded both MCQ's for final results. I was familiar with Contingent immunization but ignored 2 bond hedge calculations. Though, none of the LOS required any calculations.

I failed in Band 10 (possibly 1 or 2 MCQ short of the passing marks)

I remember in post exam discussions on AF quite a few got both the ans right (they knew the stuff)

Therefore, if possible and time permits, we should try to familiarise ourselves with all the calculations provided in CFA books irrespective of whether LOS ask for it or not.
