N. Van:

Take a different approach. Treat them as TVM calcs with some adjustments to the i of the equation. There are a few twists, but if you approach from this angle as opposed to driving all of those formulas in your head, I think you will get it.

BTW - I am headed up to Vancouver at the end of March. I will try to bring So Cal weather with me.

Thanks goes to eleven,
The weather here has actually been quite warm...spring like...The Olympic people are freaking out LOL...they are hauling snow from Alberta to our local mountains for the Olympic events...just too funny...however won't be funny when we have to pay for the $1,000 per hour snow transportation through increased taxes...!

but yah fee free to bring as much sunshine as you can. If you'd like to grab a beer while you are up here, drop me a line at n.vancandidate@gmail.com

Cheers

^^Exactly! Just adjust the i and you can reason your way through any of these problems.

Also, I think it will be important to have an understanding of which types of taxes cause more/less drag as well as the effect that time horizons, magnitude of return, etc. have on tax drag.
