Car buying question

Stupid advice like Edmunds’ creates customers for Dave Ramsey. Half the country bankrupts themselves willingly to feed corporate earnings, and then they complain that life is hard for them.

i mean you have to look at it from a repair, depreciation, acquisition price, and terminal value perspective. sometimes paying up is better value. i cant vouch for old cars, but i can tell you if i am selling you my car, its going to be because it needs a lot of repairs.

i remember in college. i had a friend who thought he had a steal of a deal buying a really cheap car. only for it to break down at a random spot a week later for it to get towed. he was actually really poor at the time, like worked valet and subway. very sad!

This one will be my next choice:

What a sausage fest.

What is that “really cheap car”? Like a 1990s German luxury car that is selling for “a steal”, i.e. the poser mobile of every hood in the Bronx? Protip: a $5k used Toyota Yaris isn’t exciting, but it is both cheap and reliable, and is appropriate for someone who needs to save money.

Just buy a crown vic, never have to worry about tailgaters again.

Have an opinion on VW? I found this for $15K - and if I fine-ants it for 4 years, I’d be paying $330’ish bucks/mo. $15K is 5 grand more than I wanted to spend, but It takes your guys advice into consideration. I could probably drive this through 2025.

Are you sh*tting me? You’re looking for a cheap used car to drive until 2025, so your first suggestion is a VW SUV?

i personally would go for a toyota or nissan! safety in numbers! where you getting financing btw and at what rate?

just fyi. from what i’ve seen. all these models have been either been redesigned either already or prolly within 2 years. so your car will look extra old when the newer version is out!

Okay, point taken - that’s why I asked.

Winner winner…

I think it’s overpriced though. I am going to tell them this and then offer them $6,500.00
