Sounds like in the early 1900s when doctors used to prescribe “pelvic massage” to cure “female hysteria”. In other words, it was routine for women to see the doctor to get finger banged.
There were also electric motor contraptions developed around that time to assist with “hysteria”. If you ever see photographs of these devices, most of them look quite scary!
