Who would you use your hall pass on

I have been thinking about this the past few days, since I was on a couple of trans-Pacific flights last week and watched the movie “this is where I leave you”. In the movie the main character obviously runs into a high school sweetheart when he goes home. And it got me thinking about the women I’ve wanted in my life that nothing ever happened, due to wrong place/wrong time, or some crap. Most of them come and go, but there is one chick. I asked her out freshman year, but she said she had just started seeing somebody. Let it go, then we ran across another after graduation in a different city. I took her to dinner and we had a fun night (no sex sadly though) and then work yanked me away to another city. She’s one of the few girls that I still think about occasionally.

I don’t know you but if you are an average sized man she would hurt you. That said, it would be worth it.

I had to think about this. For me it would be either Melissa Riso or Melanie Iglesias or ideally both at the same time.

It’s just a suggestion but Black Swan was probably right, a little tightening up and consistency in moderation will make this a better place. I understand that the since this section is predominately American and pseudo American, people will probably start throwing fits about the ills of political correctness and the need for taking a ‘joke’ but nevertheless.

Speaking of political correctness , an old story just re-surfaced as the most searched on the interwebs , a frat house that was mostly white threw a party with a Mexican theme that got into some trouble for offending the sensitivities of the Hispanic population. Pictures leaked showed a couple of white inebriated guys wearing shirts with the words ‘illegal’ and ‘border patrol’. Their defence was that the party was meant to be ‘funny’ and in ‘good humor’ while they deplored an oversensitive PC culture. I am simply laughing in bemusement.

Either the Americans are truly detached from reality and their sense of ‘humor’ is extremely warped or the Europeans are right when they call the Americans the most ‘bigoted and prejduiced people you will ever have the misfortune of meeting’.

I don’t think igor is genuinely admitting to using date rape drugs or advocating it.

In any case, that’s pretty mild vs some of the stuff that we’ve managed to clean up in the past.

Some of the stuff that spews out here in WC has me holding my nose, but at least we’ve managed to contain it in WC, rather than have it infect most of the rest of the site.

And I’m happy that the Investments forum is livelier now than it has been in some time.

Here in WC, we moderators primarily clamp down on pure pornographic material, the use of racial (and other) epithets, ongoing personal attacks on members (meaning as part of a pattern, not the occasional flame), and the outing of people’s real identities. We also discourage and prune profanities where we can, but we don’t see everything and happen to have day jobs, too.

As for correcting ignorance. We do this in our function as AF members, not as moderators. But sometimes the level of ignorance is just too phenomenal, and too willful, and one has to ask why it is worth it to even try.

I think I’d probably sell it…

get a life x ray you tool

Brie and Nikki Bella from WWE.

I agree with the sentiment of using a hall pass on an old gf or maybe someone you wanted to go out with back in the day.

On the celebrity front, I’d go with Khaleesi. Surprised she hasn’t been mentioned given the other thread about Game of Thrones.

old gf, really?

I don’t get that either. Unless she was your gf when you were 10, you’ve already “done that”, so why waste the pass? I can kind of see a girl you lusted over in HS or college and could never have, but chances are she has 5 kids, 2 ex-husbands, and weighs 250 pounds now.

^No, the hottest girl in school has only gotten hotter since school. (At least according to her FB pics.) And I’m sure she’s learned how to…perform, too.

Yeah , I get that you have a thankless job and do the best you can.

It is worth pointing out that while the the rest of the forum is quite heterogenous this section is considerably less so. Drawing a firmer line against ‘interesting’ observations that is basically blatant race - baiting and some of the off-color ‘misogynistic’ statements will attract different types of people that are probably shirking this place now. As finance as an industry continues to grow in various other reigons , ultimately a far more diverse userbase is not out of question too.

There was a similar forum that experienced the same growing pains as it went from a small community to a massive international one within a short timespan and as harsher lines were drawn ,in typical fashion the Americans threw a hissy fit with phrases like ‘free speech’ being thrown about and demanded that other people get ‘thicker skin’.

Ultimately a few Americans left, the majority remained, fell into line , learnt how to behave and that forum is one of the better places on the internet.

It’s not exactly some sort of dull, inspid afternoon tea affair either. A simple ‘report to moderator’ button next to the quote and reply buttons will take a vast load of your shoulders.

I don’t mean to come across as excessively critical, it’s just a suggestion. I’m sure you’ll do what’s best.

This should really be in the Feedback Forum.

I agree. The anti-American sentiment here has become blatantly racist in the last year and I find it objectionable.

They hate us cause they ain’t us.

I watched “the Legend of Bagger Vance” last night, which featured a 30-year old Matt Damon (I have a strange man-crush on Matt Damon) and a 25-year old Charlize Theron.

I might use the hall pass on Charlize Theron. Or Catherine Zeta-Jones.

^ CZJ has aged quite a bit in the last couple of years.

Dylan Dreyer.

I hadn’t noticed. I’m really thinking about CZJ from Traffic and America’s Sweethearts and the like. That’s the CZJ that I want.
