Cabo vs. Puerto Vallarta

I’m thinking about going to one of these places to chill for a week after the exam. Any recommendations for one over the other?

Save the $$$ for escorts. Better bang for your buck.

I don’t think my wife would appreciate that

I go with Cabo because it’s what the people from the Hills/Laguna Beach go to, and if it’s what the hot, rich white girls like, then I’m sure it’s pretty nice. But I don’t see why you should take an exotic get away in June. I’d save it for January.

I went to a Cabo all inclusive in 2006 with the wife and a Puerto Vallerta all inclusive in 2008 again with the wife. Both times we went in November. Both were good places to go, but we enjoyed Cabo more. The town was more interesting and the beach a bit better (but not quite as nice as the Gulf side of Mexico). As a point of reference, we are a DINK family and both in our late 20s currently.

I’m looking at a Mexico vacation as well, but a bit earlier. You may want to consider some gulf resorts rather than being off the pacific. Playa Del Carmen is really nice.

Thanks for the input. We’re in our mid-20s, no kids. I had thought about Playa Del Carmen as well, but I got the impression that there was nothing to do there. Which isn’t terrible I guess, since most of the time will probably be on the beach anyways. Sounds like the gulf side has nicer beaches?

I haven’t been (although I’m headed there this sunday for a week so I can report back). One of my best friends is a golf pro who teaches golf on cruise lines in the Carribean, and he had told me to go there. I think they have a ton of stuff to do there actually. There is a healthy bar scene (there’s a Coco Bongo’s and Senior Frogs), a busy shopping street with nice shops (5th Ave), and tons of local restaurants if you’re sick of the resort food. Also there are Mayan ruins (Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Xel Ha) nearby so there are excursions there as well.

I would be interested in hearing your impression when you get back, enjoy!
