What is "Self-dealing"

A guidance under standard 4 Duties to employers is to avoid “Self-dealing” when planing to leave and employer. What is Self-dealing?

According to teh CFAI: Self-dealing is appropriating for one’s own property a business opportunity or information belonging to one’s employer.

In another word, acting for your own interest (or putting your own interest first) before the interest of your employer where your duty of loyalty is owed.

self dealing is pretty broad:

using your company’s computer or phone to conduct office space search for your next business, using company’s time to market your business, using company’s contact list to solicte business…ects.

Thanks!
