Career in a purchasing position

I am being interviewed to start working at a purchasing position at this farmaceutical company. My duties are basically keeping the inventories of certain products at a certain level of inventory turnover. My goal is to work in AM but i have to experience whatsoever, I just graduated. I was wondering does working in a position like this make any relevance to go for AM or it is like not having a job at all?

Doesn’t sound relevant to AM at all.

Yeah it dosent have anything to do with it. I was wondering does havind a position that has nothing to do with AM on your resume better than having no experience in anything at all, or are they basically the same level of worthless

You just have to weigh out how badly you’re pigeon-holing yourself/wasting valuable time vs. having to explain a gap in your resume.

Which story would you rather tell?

well, one potential area of benefit. If you try to transition into an equity research role covering healthcare and pharma focused research. And then after that, you can transition into AM far easier.
