How to get into Investment Banking from Private Banking?

Hi, I am currently working as a wealth advisor in a Private Banking firm and pursuing CFA. Would like to know, what career choices I need to make now to get into Investment Banking? Also is it feasible to get into IB now?

Probably it is not.

I’ve seen people do it internally, but CFA won’t help you with the IB switch, going from wealth advisor to a RIA or wealth management firm is probably more feasible.

its MBA to IB not CFA to IB

Thanks a lot for your responses. I am already an MBA in Finance and Marketing but not from a premier B-school, hence pursuing CFA. Please suggest how should I go about it?

@klaudnine Will joining a BB bank help to move internally into IB?

BB bank will improve your chance certainly but ultimately it will depend on how well you can network and how old you are. There are plenty of people from completely unrelated backgrounds getting associate or even VP roles at IBs from what I’ve seen. But it’s not an easy transition for sure.
