Networking

Is there harm in accepting networking calls/meetings in your first year of employment? I have been working at my bank for about 9 months but, just last week, accepted a meeting with a hedge fund recruiter. I said in my initial response to her email that it is too early in my time at my bank to begin looking elsewhere but I would welcome an introductory call.

How have you guys handled this sort of thing? Has this ever blown up in anyone’s face? I guess I’m just apprehensive because how small of a world this is.

Yeah I agree with you, it is too soon. Do yourself a favor and send her my way would ya?

I’m always open to hearing what they have to say. It’s pretty standard. I don’t think it matters that you’ve only been their 9 months.

Never hurts to talk to recruiters…even if it is your 1st day on the job.

Follow up: Just talked to him. It was no big deal, they are looking to fill a seat quickly and probably just hit all the SS associates covering the space. Gonna stay in touch
