DRCC - Dave Ramsey Certified Counselor Really…

Jason Zweig is the editor for Graham’s “The Intelligent investor” ???

Tough to get an idea of rigor without pass rates - saying that the CPA requires passing a 14 hour exam doesn’t tell you anything. Also, the link showing the list of credentials doesn’t list a work experience requirement for the CFA, which anyone coming out of undergrad can attest to the importance of. Classroom learning helps speed up the learning curve, but I don’t care how many credentials someone has if they don’t have any work experience…

CSOFP - Certified Suzy Orman Financial Planner

Frankly, I’m surprised they didn’t mention how horrible some of the titles given to employees at broker/dealers are. Almost anyone working with the public (no matter what their experience level) is given a title that usually implies qualifications far beyond what they’ve actually done. i.e. You graduate college and go work for any firm as a broker (top or bottom tier, doesn’t matter). You have no experience working in personal/retail finance. Doesn’t matter; you are no longer a ‘broker’ - you’re a (combine any two or three): financial retirement expert planner representative investment consultant wealth specialist I understand that firms view it as good marketing, but I wouldn’t tolerate someone slicing open my abdomen to take a look if he had the title of “expert medical advice specialist”. It’s only due to ignorance around certifications that this crap persists. -Supersadface, financial expert consultant wealth planner specialist (FECWPS)
