Sources for fundamental info for global stocks

What do you use other than Bloomberg?

Muddha I do int’l small caps. What are you looking for?

2 things really. I’m preparing to make an investment case to an inhouse team that specialise in UK & European stocks. Essentially looking for screens to drill down on some core parameters (most likely value stocks) and build out a case. Also, to invest my own dosh (GBP/CHF/EUR). Freaky thing is, I know more places to find US stock info than I do for my own territories… Cheers

OK. Sounds like you’ll be doing some interesting stuff. For us, the main sources (before we even get to the really deep level stuff that takes longer): -Annual reports and regulatory filings. You can normally find these on the company website. Older ones can be found through ThomsonInvestexts. If they don’t report a set in english, unless you’re fluent in the reporting language, I strongly suggest you drop the stock then and there. If the company doesn’t have an english website or doesn’t have all their stuff online, check the stock exchange of the country it’s traded in. Some stock exchange sites have links to all regulatory filings for companies. I also suggest that you identify 3-10 comparable companies, preferably in the region of the world you’re dealing in, that you can use to do side-by-side ratio analysis on when you put your report/presentation together. -Sell-side reports and whitepapers on the industry: ThomsonInvestexts has sell-side reports from most of the major banks, and some smaller regional ones. I suggest trade journals and whitepapers in order to fill in your background info on a region. You can find these through any one of dozens of databases. My (in earnest) suggestion is to find a library near your office and befriend a librarian or two. I’m probably at the one near our office twice a month downloading stuff on industries. Trade journals tend to be extremely narrowly focused and an excellent way of getting the pulse of an industry. For example, if you’re studying offshore oil-and-gas driller/producers, go read the last three issues of “Offshore”, in addition to searching for your target company if the trade journals website has a search box. You can find a trade journal for literally almost any industry. -general newspaper/magazine searches. Get creative and search for your target co, in addition to any comparable companies as well as all the company executives. I use Factiva and some other databases for this. Again, the library is your friend. As a rule, I’ve found that int’l companies tend to have the information you want out there, but it’s just way more spread out. In the US, 10-Ks and annual reports tend to be pretty comprehensive - like maybe 65% of what we’d want to know on the company is in their SEC filings. For int’ls, that number seems to be more like 30-50%.

You have FactSet? Absolutely key for me with regard to screening. Easy to build and export screens to excel, link to excel for quick access to statements, etc. Get the I/B/E/S subscription.

Thanks SSF^3 & BWYF - just what I needed to know. Was away last week so late response. Appreciate it.
