Has anyone ever heard of this?

Just poking around CFAI and noticed next year exam is June 15th but June 16th for Religious Alternate Date!!!

Fist I hear or see this…

Nope. i believe they changed the date this year due to ramadan. maybe they are taking consideration of the Sabbath? Soccer is my religion, so by them changing the date this year, it meant me missing a lot of the world cup lol…i don’t think they can end up pleasing everyone

So, I wrote in and very tactfully voiced my concerns about this very thing. The below is the response I received. I don’t think there’s any reason why I can’t share what this person wrote me.

CFA INSTITUTE:

The multiple day administration in Asia Pacific has not scheduled to accommodate members of a specific faith, but to provide a professional testing experience to all candidates. This year our largest test centers in the Asia Pacific region administered exams to more than 10,000 candidates. Administering the exams over two days allows approximately half as many candidates to be served each day, for a better and more secure administration. As Director of Exam Security, I can assure you CFA Institute goes to great lengths to protect the security and integrity of the CFA exam and the testing process worldwide. When addressing the security and integrity of the exam, we have three specific goals: (1) to maintain the security of exam content; (2) to ensure no candidate has an unfair advantage over another; and (3) to ensure only those individuals truly qualified to pass the exam do so. We have numerous measures in place to meet these goals. As I’m sure you can understand, we are not at liberty to disclose these security measures, but rest assured the exam is protected and there is no advantage to testing on one day versus another. Should you come across information that threatens the security of the exam, or any unethical candidate behavior, we encourage you to share your knowledge with us so that appropriate action can be taken. Thank you for expressing your concern and doing your part to uphold the integrity of the CFA Program.

I believe they’ve had the alternative date for a while now as I recall seeing it previously when I first started this a few years back. The big thing to me was them moving it back this year to the 23rd after having been administered on the first Sat in June for years and years. I believe there is a tweet from the CFAI account that said it was moved to the 23rd because of Ramadan as mentioned above.
