AAMS, CRPC

my financial advisor has the above mentioned designations. anyone know anything about them, if they are difficult to get, etc

ABCD, EFGH etc. We can make up designations together! From my Google searches I gather: Accredited Asset Management Specialist Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor In all seriousness, why do you have a financial advsior if your on the board???

yeah dude, i googled them as well. i wanted a little more insight. the guy handles our company’s 401(k)s or whatever. i don’t think he actually does anything. he’s only there because the sec requires him to be. his only job is to make sure my lunch is still hot when it gets here. easiest job in the world. look, i think he’s actually …

I have the AAMS - it’s kind of like CFP lite. I only took it b/c my old company thought it would be good, and I wasn’t doing anything else at the time. It wasn’t a total waste, but unless you are doing financial planning (which I guess he is since he’s an FA) it’s not very useful.

It’s good to know some people actually hold these designations. Are you a CFP?

I am not a CFP, but I have an interest in that sort of thing and have considered sitting for it.
