Using books from 2017 to study for 2018 exam

Hello,

I did not pass level 1 in 2017 and I plan on retaking the exam in 2018. Would I be able to use the 2017 books from Kaplan to restudy for the 2018 exam? I purchased the whole package, so I have will have almost all the materials besides the practice exams/questions.

Hey ConnellTJR,

Yes you can. Here is the link with the changes between the 2017 and 2018 exams.

Good luck!

Just review the curriculum changes the CFAI puts out for the 2017 to 2018 materials. If there aren’t significant changes, then I’m sure you’ll be fine. Are you sure though that Kaplan doesn’t offer a pass guarantee where you’d be allowed to somehow get your hands on their 2018 reading materials? Might be worth checking that.

Forget Kaplan and just use the CFAI textbooks. If you don’t have time to read it, just skim it, do the EOC questions and refer back to text for things you had gotten wrong.
