What does past years BAND 10 look like?

Can anyone share what a band 10 looks like in terms of the results matrix?

The first band 10 from https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AttV8MmHAmbgdEtwbjNKR2sxT0NJVTJZa2pSb2hVUHc#gid=0

shows a 40/60/80 score of 52%

what does this 40/60/80 score mean? is this 52% what he got to fail band 10?

40/60/80 = if they scored <= 50%, you assume they score 40%, if they are 51-70%, assume 60%, >70%, assume 80%.

the 52% is the summed product of the respective 40/60/80 multiplied by the topic weight on last year’s exam

so in other words if we assumed 40/60/80 then band 10 would be 52% last year?

52 Band 10 means 57MPS??

57 is too low for being a MPS.

there is no way last year’s band 10 scored 52%

There’s another Band 10 from that link I posted where the 40/60/80 score was 61%…

the 40/60/80 score is a VERY rough estimate that a lot of people use… it understates any topic that was 5% weighting on the exam in the 51-70% and 70+% ranges because you can’t score 60% on 6 questions, you can only score 66.67% in that range. Likewise, you can’t score 80%, the lowest score you can get in that range on a 5% weighted topic is 83.33%

Band 10 should be atleast 60 %

Can’t believe this guy passed

7/23/2013 8:00:04 Passed >70% 51% - 70% <=50% 51% - 70% >70% <=50% 51% - 70% >70% <=50% >70% Hard Sciences (Engineering, Mathematics, Bio, Chem, Physics, etc.) 2-5 Years 1 1 250

So it seems as if a Band 10 fail is 60-63% then anything above sounds like a pass… in other words… sounds like one can be pretty confident with a 65% MPS

MPS isn’t 70% !

I think that 65% is a pass …

MPS around 58%-62%

For what it is worth, I went through the past years results and averaged the band 9 and band 10 scores (estimated 40/60/80) and did weighted averages for the topics. The average band 9/10 score was ~64.0%. Sample size is only 14 scores.

If you look at the matrix in this 2012 thread you’ll see that some were far from 70%

You look at my band 10 score last year FRA>70, (my estimation around-85%), Equity-50-70 ( estimation-66), CF ,Ethics, Derivatives, FI all -50-70 & AI, PM ,Quant, Econ less then 50.

So if u see my results & even if u keep score of mid 60 for all 50-70 & around 45 % for less then 50 %, total score cant be more then 60-62%, & last year questions were easier then this year , that time only AI,PM & Derivatives were bit tough hence an MPS cant be more then 63- 65%
