Factor Sensitivity Question

Hi All,

I encountered this question below from the Wiley q bank. I don’t understand why short is not the correct answer. If the person expects inflation to be lowered than consensus, would he not want to short? Why would his holdings appreciate when inflation falls?

Because his expectations were lower inflation, but it came out higher. the surprise factor is postive --> so “long”
