CFAI MPS Method

I understand the CFAI uses the Modified Angoff Method in order to determine the MPS. Is anyone familiar with how this method works?

I am wondering if this method can hurt you. For example:

100/120 questions = 83.3%

but if they drop 5 questions that you got right, it would be

95/115 = 82.6%

Is that how it goes or am I over simplifying it? I wonder what the “Modified” part entails.

It’s simple. Candidates will either Pass or Fail. We should just accept the result whatever it will be. The process of getting to MPS by CFAI is obviously something undisclosed to anyone. I don’t see any value in exploring how it is done.

Another variable to consider is the panel will work through the paper and decide how much a competent student should get.
