Import tax on CFAI Books?

HI, I received my CFAI books this morning and I had to pay c.USD30 in Import Tax! ( I live in Germany). Did anyone else living outside the US have to pay tax on the books? tks

I live in Canada and nope I did not have to pay a pennie more.

I am from Kenya, paid c$120 both in 2005 and 2006 as taxes on imports. One can appeal and get exempted on proving that the imports are educational materials and not resale/busines stuff but that means taking longer to receive my books as I follow up on the long bureaucratic governement procedures. This year it might get worse since the tax might be based on $600 and not $300 like in the previous years. I wish we had a CFA society here, maybe they would have fought this tax battle once and for all.

Same here in Shanghai, China. And seems everyone needs to pay 10% of the shipment value…
