References - Is it a heavy process for the person giving a reference?

Hi guys,

I’m asking a former colleague to give a reference but I don’t want to annoy them if it takes ages to do.

Do any of you know how heavy the process is and how long it takes for them to complete?

Is it almost a tick box exercise!?

Thank you!

If they know your job description, should not take more than 10 minutes to fill.

Hi Fino,

Thank you!

Do you know if they see what I put as relevant work experience? Or are they blind to that and have to essentially rewrite it from scratch?

They can’t see what you submitted. They will have to answer a few questions about you (whether this person is involved in investment decision making process, etc).

Then they will have to write a short summary about what you do at work that qualifies you to get the charter.

Hi Fino,

That’s helpful thank you!

It will take 5 mins to complete.

3 short questions, and a few lines about your work. I was also afraid a bit, because I had to reach out to high level executives, but they filled in my reference within 1 day. If they worked with you, and knew you it’s really not a big effort.

That’s great thanks for the help guys!
