2011 Practice Exam Question 1

Assume that a random variable follows a normal distribution with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10.What percentage of this distribution is between 55 and 65?

The solution in the book is as follow Prob(xmean + 0.5 standard deviation) = 0.9332 - 0.6915 = 0.2417. How do you come up with those numbers? How do you calculate the Prob (x<65)? Should we have any type of table or program that allow us to get those figures?

Thank you so much
