Just done CFA 2 and am considering a career in Risk and hence FRM. I have a couple of questions. Compared to CFA how difficult is it? Is is multiple choice? How many hours after having done CFA 2? Thanks

Also how often can you sit it? and How many shweser books is the material?

I am waiting for CFA 3 results. I have been studying for the FRM Level 1 for a month and I find it to be just as challenging as CFA Level 2 and 3. You will need to have a more in depth knowledge of the concepts and be able to apply them. I plan to spend 300 hours and use the Core FRM Notes with a review of the Schweser notes and online classes. GARP recommends a minimum of 250 hours. There are 3 Schweser books for the FRM Level 1 with about 700 pages and the FRM Core Readings are 1,400 pages. You can sit for the exam in May and November. I recommend you read old FRM threads and read the Schweser FRM (What Every Candidate Must Know) to get a better idea of what to expect in the case you decide to jump in. Good luck!
