Well, I don’t really follow this guy. But my uninformed view is that he is just another fake “wonderboy”. One of these people that Americans love to build up, for their “disrupting”, or “genius”, or whatever. He doesn’t actually seem to know what he is doing, from what I can tell. Steve Jobs was the real deal, now we’ve just got these Tesla / Twitter fools.
There’s also the matter of his face. His eyes are too buggy, and his cheeks are either too high or low, can’t tell what…but something is definitely wrong with his face.
Musk is one of those guys that hit it big once, and now everyone thinks he is invincible despite a pretty terrible track record post-Paypal. Since then, he’s pretty much been a ward of state subsidies. I’d never buy Tesla, but shorting it could be a long long trade.
Musk reminds me of that character in the 007 movie that I can’t remember the name of that looked creepy and didn’t need sleep. Also kind of like the bad guy in Casino Royale. So basically he reminds me of creepy Bond villains.
I can’t see how either of his businesses don’t survive without government subsidies and largesse. Why should an $80k luxury car that just happens to be electric get a $7,500 tax credit? Give me a break.
Putting aside the fact that his cars are charged through the power grid, which you may have forgotten, power is often produced by burning coal and natural gas, if you have the means to afford an $80-100k luxury car, it shouldn’t be subsidized. If I were to go buy a $80k electric sports boat, should that be subsidized because I’m not buying a gasoline powered boat?
