S&P "Point in Time" Database, any alternatives?

I’m interested in doing some research/backtesting with fundamental data on US equities. I know S&P’s Point in Time is likely one of the best sources, but I’m curious to know if there are other providers who make their database more accessible to “retail”? My initial search online has been unfruitful.

I don’t know of any cheap alternatives. May want to look into your library or local business school

Was going to give that a shot later on this week!

How far back are you looking to back-test?

Chad, I’d be content with ~20 years and up. Specifically, I’m looking to further research Joseph Piotroski’s F-Score work and certain variants to it that may improve the performance of his original publication. Thanks in advance for any guidance!
