so funniest thing. so we finally found out who the most balling person in the group was. it was a 10 man party. 2 seperate groups. not including the women. the women were a group of themselves.
the 2 richest amongst us were gonna split the vegas bottle tab. politician/car dealership vs wholesale tire ops (WTO). WTO stayed with us. politician, though a close friend of mine, brought his college entourage. like in huntington. which irked all of us, cuz we dont need more niggas taking our resources.
friday night came at 3k. no issues.
saturday though. they were trying to 1 up each other. and it reached, 9k. politician pulled 1 of my friends and broke at the 4k point. and said we gotta stop WTO. i cant handle this and broke a sweat. I found this out sunday and realized that politician did not live up to his word and pay half the table. . in any case my other friend did not even look stressed. but the whole time we kept making references do dbz. specifically this.
stl- as a matter of principle, i dont gamble when the odds are not in my favor.
ohai - i was already planning on quitting my job this jan for mba. retire at 500k in philippines is now less likely an option for me, as i am about to drop a huge chunk of what i saved for school. haha but dude. WTO wants to start a wm firm. and basically asked how much he needs to raise for me to work for him. i told him 10m.
igor - wholesale tire operations. basically a tire business guy.
A friend of mine used to work as a manager at the Mandarin in LV. They’d regularly send out semi-famous people and high rollers who’d spend $10-20k a night on bottles, so I guess some ballers definitely pay. It only impacted us because he’d often get comped a few bottles here and there for the references so we’d always get a few thousand $$ in free table service a night everywhere we went when we came out to visit. I can definitely vouch that we on the other hand weren’t ballers despite the free bottles.
-ltj. i was a big dbz fan. know what im saiyan? but i got a funny story. last week or two ago. i was in a club in downey grinding on this blond chick. anyways they start playing dbz. she turns around and says you must love this song. i was like is it cuz im asian? gave her a sideways look. then i was like yea i love it. that pikachus cute like you. she started cracking up and went crazy. grinded hard and made out. her friends pulled her off me. everyone was shocked. and i was getting handshakes.
-whatsyourgovt. we talked about it sober on the ride home. they were talking about some outlandish shit though. renting a jet for 1500 to vegas next time. throwing a massive party on my bday, and 1 of my other friend’s music video. talkiing about renting yachts and mansions. hiring instagram models. so prolly all talk. Martin had a dream. Kendrick have a dream. LET ME HAVE MINE! haha
-blackswan. how do you get free tables? is it like being a promoter? WTO was telling to be 1 so i can get free bottles for the crew. just by pulling hot chicks to the hottest clubs in hollywood.
-jbrowntown. i might be there. thats my bday weekend. if they do a music video. i wont go. if they dont. i am there guaranteed.4 yrs work exp in finance on my bday too. haha. 1 req done. :). AUG 9 judgement day. GET WRECKED!!!
My hardcore vegas days are behind me, but I was a skilled player rolling under the radar. I definitely got my share of comps, even at clubs. But today, nothing probably would make me feel more like a mark than paying that kind of money to “party.” If women and booze are what you are looking for, get your lame asses on a plane out of the good ole USA and do it right for pennies on the dollar. For 9k, you could have the hottest “tour guide” for an entire season in Costa Rica or Belize. We Americans are a strange breed when it comes to spending money for the “attention” of women. I’m guessing a certain poster on this board could speak fairly authoritatively on just how ridiculous we are.
It’s really not about impressing women. Table service can actually make economic sense with a large group or in the case of the people from the Mandarin, most of those people probably have 10’s of millions to the extent that blowing $10k just is part of the lifestyle. Some car enthusiasts say the same thing about people that buy porsches. Who am I to judge.
No, it’s not like being a promotor or anything, my friend was just getting them as a thank you for sending high rollers from the hotel he worked for to the clubs. The perks like that that he got in Vegas probably came in around $50k a year it was pretty sweet.
Well, the mark-up on the Porches doesn’t quite compare. Funny thing is that the more wealth I accumulate, the less frivolous consumption I participate in. Seems once you can afford somebody, the appeal isn’t as strong. But, sure, each to their own. “High end” clothes and clubs and other extreme margin products just feel like a donation to me, and not to a good cause.
