Trump announces he'll go for reelection

“Gonna win so much people will say we can’t take it anymore”

I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, what I want most is to watch liberals completely lose their minds. On the other hand, I’m tired of hearing about Trump and he’s just not a great President.

Their heads are going to explode. They’ll come out with extremely biased polls showing how he has a 0.0001% chance of winning.

The guy loves to have rallies.

President runs for reelection starting from Day 1. I wonder what Trump will do if (when) he wins the 2020 election, since he won’t care about voters and he doesn’t care about the Republican Party.

best president ever

Looks like we’re right on track for another repeat.

Sigh.

Even better:

“You and your candidate will be understandably outraged and upset, as will your community. However, DO NOT POLITICIZE IT TODAY,” DCCC regional press secretary Evan Lukaske wrote to candidates in the Northeast. “There will be time for politics and policy discussion, but any message today should be on offering thoughts/prayers for victims and their families, and thanking 1st responders who saved lives.”

The messaging handouts, obtained by The Intercept, made clear where the party wants its candidates to stand when it comes to health care reform — preferably nowhere, but certainly not with single payer advocates.

Democrats’ bigger issue is that they still don’t have a real platform or direction to propose for the country. They have spent the past year just saying “No” to everything, without any realistic suggestions. If they had to run today, what would they say? Stop Trump’s infrastructure plan? Increase taxes?

The main argument against Trump is that his moral character is extremely questionable. However, voters didn’t care about that in 2016. I am not sure why they would care about it now.

Yeah, but realistically weren’t people saying the same thing about Republicans coming out of the Obama administration?

Yes, that’s a big reason why Trump won the nomination. Jeb Bush would have been another status quo dead fish. Trump is the only candidate who presented a true vision and leadership. Even though a lot of people didn’t agree with “America First”, the campaign was enough to get a lot of people excited. Hillary didn’t have a vision either. Her campaign was “we’re better than you”. She didn’t lose because of Russians or sexism; she lost because she phoned in the election because she thought she deserved it, just like Bush, Ted Cruz, and all the other losers.

I live in PA, a state that went to Trump in 2016. Based on most people with whom I speak, including Trump voters, if the dems just put up a non-Trump alternative that isn’t tainted (see HRC) then the backlash could be substantial enough to swing blue in 2020. I think people are just tired of needing to constantly hear about that clown, his goofy family (who went to school locally), and really the whole administration. It’s embarrassing.

That could be the case. On the other hand, people were horrified too at a President who threatened to cancel all trade agreement, who bragged about grabbing womens’ P*, and who is… well he is Donald Trump.

What I’m saying is that despite what polls or even common sense might say, Trump succeeded in his emotional appeal to voters, and unless Democrats change something, he might do it again.

All depends on the economy. If he can somehow keep this party going for another two years then, unfortunately (IMHO), he’s going to be a pretty formidable candidate. If we slide into recession he’ll probably be blamed for it as he’s tied himself to all of the gains we’ve had since he’s been office.

We now have an official date to see if America has gone crazy or not.

Dems had and have a platform if they want it, but they’d rather lose than seriously promote socialism in any form.

I’d say HRC failed in the appeal. Also, everyone thought she would default win. I know a ton of people (many women included) who did not vote because they assumed it was a foregone conclusion that HRC would be president.

Pennsylvania went to Trump by less than 50 thousand votes. In Philly, Clinton got 570 thousand votes compared to 594 thousand for Obama in 2008. In a close election, that matters quite a bit. Also, Trump actually had pretty poor showing by republican standards (lower turnout than McCain and W). And, that’s in Philly, which is dem central. Go up to NEPA and tons of people that normally vote dem would never vote for HRC. If the dems don’t run somebody that is so polarizing then people will go to the polls to vote against Trump.

I don’t think socialism is their platform. That’s Bernie’s platform, for sure, but they could embrace things like social liberalism, science, infrastructure, and fixing the entitlement programs. They just need to learn to do it without shouting, “we’re going to tax the wealthiest 1%!” That’s not going to get it done either in the elections or in practical implantation.

The problem with dems is they’re just losers. Even during BO’s reign they didn’t do anything. You’d have to go back to the Clinton era to find a strong dem party and that was them basically riding the tech wave (though Gore did invent the Internet so I guess they can take credit for that too).

What’ll be interesting is if young people actually mobilize and vote. Most are democrats only for lack of a better option. If the 35 and younger crowd actually get motivated, we’ll see a move to the center.

Ofc it’s not very strong to say that the repubs have gotten shit done this past year.

Anyone got predictions on who the dems will nominate? Cuomo, Warren perhaps? Zuckerberg?
