Odd double standards

Here’s a baffling double-standard. The law firm Skadden Aarps is caught up doing work for Ukraine and Manafort. They knew their work was a violation of US laws but took $5 million in fees anyway. So they’re in trouble right, big fines, managing partner must go, maybe lose some legal licenses, bring in some external law firm to do a big audit? Nope. Just pay fine equal to illicit fees and say “oops, sorry”. Lawyers and management consultants like McKinsey are as dirty as anyone – can you imagine the fines if it was an investment bank? Manafort alone pays more fines?
