24-year old Deutsche Bank salesman commits suicide

Looks like the cab-driver wanted to be on the save side. The rope should have done it, especially at high speed. But the a pillar, too. Was there any water (a lake, a river) behind the pillar? In case he missed it?

What made this guy a whiz kid? Killing himself because he feared losing his job? A lot of people in this market have lost jobs.

The stockbroker who leapt 80ft to his death feared he would lose his job after playing a prank at work, the Daily Mail can reveal. Posing as one of his clients, Oxford graduate Anjool ‘Jools’ Malde left a silly message on a financial website. It read: ‘I am hot, I am hot.’ Investigators think this was probably a reference to his client being on a successful investment run. Mr Malde’s client, who works for Brevan Howard, a leading hedge fund management firm, did not see the funny side and made a formal complaint to the company which runs the discussion forum. The resulting investigation suggested that Mr Malde had impersonated the client from his office computer at Deutsche Bank. This prompted the bank’s bosses to send Mr Malde home on Friday pending a full investigation. Two days later, as he prepared to celebrate his 25th birthday, Mr Malde jumped from an eighth-floor restaurant near the Bank of England. Colleagues believe he was convinced he would lose his job. One added: ‘It was a mildly offensive remark which triggered a tragic chain of events.’ Another source said: ‘On the face of it, it was a very trivial incident. But in the City, issues which involve potential loss of money or reputation are taken very seriously.’ Police have found no evidence that Mr Malde had downloaded any inappropriate material on his computer or was involved in any criminal behaviour. Last night another colleague told the Daily Mail that Mr Malde had also been disciplined for sending an e-mail relating to AlphaParties, an events company he ran in his spare time, using his office computer. ‘Bosses were not happy about it,’ claimed one colleague, who did not want to be named. ‘He was given what amounted to a telling-off and a slap on the wrist about that.’ Last night friends said the trader also feared he would lose his job because three colleagues in his department were recently ‘let go’. Mr Malde was working long hours at the bank’s London headquarters and was often at his desk by 6am. ‘In recent times three of his colleagues had been let go by the bank and Jools seemed very worried he might be the next to leave,’ said one friend. ‘Because of the number of people his department had been reduced by, Jools was also dealing with an increased workload and that brought him under more pressure.’ Yesterday his distraught parents - mother Naina and his father Bharat - stayed inside their home in Yarm, near Middlesbrough. Earlier they released a statement in which they spoke of their ‘devastation’ after losing their only child.
